Chapter 2: Boredom Cure?

It was a bright summer morning, Trunks awoke from his bed. He stood up and stretched out with a long yawn then opened a nearby window to greet the new day. He inhaled deeply as a small breeze passed through, taking in the fresh air. It felt good to be alive and to not fear death, but it was the loneliness that truely ached him.

After tending to his morning routine he put on his boots and walked out of his room heading down the corridor on his way to the kitchen. I wish Okaasan was still around, she cooked much better then I ever could. He sighed at the top of a spiraling staircase. Trunks made a small leap and floated his way to the bottom, not having to worry about the stairs.

Trunks took another turn and soon found himself in the kitchen. The size of the place was large enough so that many hands could cook and move frantically for lots of hungry guests. The dining room had a long rectangular shaped table also reflected the same idea, many people coming over to eat their fill.

Trunks was not a bad cook, but being a Saiya-jin and having the large appetite of one he was extremely lazy at cooking. So he walked up to a panel on a wall and punched a few colored buttons. Tapping his foot impatiently Trunks waited for about three minutes before he heard a beeping sound. He moved over to a large microwave-looking device and opened the door. Within it was five large bowls of hot fresh ramen piled high.

"Ah!" Trunks grinned in satisifaction, taking each bowl and a set of chopsticks over to the table in the dining room. As soon as he got comfortable in his seat he began to inhale all the food, so to speak. Okaasan was a better cook, but this'll do . Finishing his breakfast in less then ten minutes, Trunks leaned back on his chair with a big smile on his face.

"That was great" he said to himself, "I'm still hungry though." Trunks chuckles and shakes his head. He decided to wait until lunch time before totally pigging out. It's never good to work out on a full stomach. Trunks had learned that the hard way.

After cleaning the dishes and putting them away Trunks strolled out of the dining room and stood outside, where sunlight poured itself onto his face. He peered up and saw that there were only small cotton clouds floating aimlessly across the baby blue sky.

It was much nicer to look up then to look across the land. The Capsule Corporation complex was in shambles, but Trunks managed to repair a few buildings and gather bits and pieces together. After taking flight, Trunks gazes at the world down below him. Passing large craters and other indentations in the earth brought back some not too pretty memories.

After his five or so hours of pointless sightseeing he turned around and headed back home. Diving low and hovering over the ground he covered a lot of area. Whenever he felt like doing so he would fly straight up until the atmostphere got too thin and would just freefall back down. There has to be some cure for boredom...but where can that be found?

He stops in mid air when his senses picked up a nearby presence. Not human. Animal. A grin spread across the warrior's face, thinking of what it might be. Carefully hiding behind a large pillar of rock he looked over and finds a dinosaur drinking water from a river. The beast was large in size with a long and slowly lashing tail. Knowing this might be interesting, Trunks lets his presence be known to the creature.

At the complex, Trunks had a campfire on a large patch of earth and started roasting his lunch over a spit. Once the dinosaur was cooked medium rare he brought the fire down and started eating to his stomach's content.

The hunt was a thrill for Trunks. He felt the adrenaline run through him as the dinosaur gave chase. He didn't fly after the helpless animal, it would have spoiled the fun of it. His speed on foot was still too much for the animal to tolerate and soon enough Trunks had his sword ready and removed the dinosaur's legs. He then removed the head, leaving the rest of the monster's body ready to be prepared for eating. It was one of those rare moments on this desolate planet that he could actually give in to his desire to fight. His will to break his enemy until he was the only one standing.

After cleaning up after himself and preserving the leftover meat for his dinner he took a stroll through the Capsule Corp. and entered his mother's research building. The building gave Trunks a warm welcoming feeling and he was glad to take a look at all the little gadgets Bulma had invented over her lifetime. She was a very bright woman when it came to technology. Times like this Trunks was grateful he was given the best attributes of both his parents. His intellect and ingenuity from Bulma, and his skill and strength from Vejiita. The infamous arrogance and ignorance tendencies are side effects of being a Saiyajin. That couldn't be helped much.

Letting his curiousity get the best of him Trunks wandered about his mother's old work rooms. By now some of the equipment were in good shape, but heavily covered in dust from the ages. Some looked so old he couldn't remember seeing it in his life while others were fairly new and where the remains of a great womans's work.

Shaking the thoughts of Bulma away he notices a tower of boxes covered with white linen sheets. As he walked towards it his right foot stepped on a solid aluminum container and it slips right off the ground. It sent him launching forward right into stack of boxes and crashing right into the center of it all.

The boxes and sheets tumble over him, leaving Trunks stranded underneath.

"Bah!" He cries as he gets up and sends the pile scattering in all directions with the use of his ki energy. Trunks grunted and dusted himself off thinking that his mother was a lousy cleaner although he was actually the one to be blamed for his own stupidity.

The man examined the mess before turning about to look at the wall, shortly his forehead wrinkled up in confusion. Instead of just a plain wall, there was a door that had a sign that says "Secret Work". Since when did Okaasan have special projects to work on?. He was uncertain of what could await him inside, but taking the chance he opens the door and cautiously steps inside.
